About Me

Here's a little taste of the things I'm involved with outside of the office :

Boatbuilding & Sailing

Over the last few years, I've pursued a passion for boats and boat building.

  • Blaze of Glory - Story of how I pulled a crew together to build a 24' Trimaran in 48hours for the Discovery Channel
  • Grace Quan - In 2003 I worked as part on a replica of a 40' Chinese Fishing Junk for the SF Maritime Museum.
  • Far Out - The story of how I constructed my own boat, a 17' glass reinforced ply catamaran in my backyard. Last winter we took it Beach Sailing in Baja

How did I get into boats? In 2001, I took a year out of hi-tech to apprentice under Bob Darr at the Arques School of Boatbuilding. - There I worked on several boats including a beautiful little 16' catboat we named 'Black Cat' (Look for the pictures on the website).

Cycling

I have travelled much of the world by bike... some 25,000kms through numerous countries. (Equivalent to once round the world!) - A bicycle is a great way to travel. I love how it gets you off the beaten path, and into the lives of real people. My last trip took me to Patagonia and Southern Chile, beautiful!

The longest ride I've made was a 5000km from Bankok in Thailand to Kathmandu in Nepal with my friend Richard. We had the pleasure of being arrested by police in Tibet on suspicion of spying. Quite exciting! Read More
